Threads of the Harvest: A Collaboration with Stiebeuel
– by Harriet Yorke
At Wasted Wine Club, we’ve always believed that wine should be more than just a drink—it should tell a story. From the soil to the cellar, and finally to your glass, each bottle carries character, chaos, and a bit of beauty. So when the opportunity came to partner with Stiebeuel, one of Cape Town’s most exciting fashion labels, we couldn’t resist turning that story into something you could wear.

We've known Nico Nigrini, the founder of Stiebeuel, for many years, and we've been waiting patiently for the 'right' project to collaborate together on for some time. Finally, that opportunity presented itself in March this year, and we worked closely with him, his partner Naomi Marshak, and Julita de Wet, who helped us with the dyeing process, to bring this to life.
Introducing our grape-dyed t-shirt collaboration—a limited-edition drop that blurs the line between winemaking and wearable art. Each shirt in this series is naturally dyed using grape skins left over from our winemaking process. Instead of tossing out this richly pigmented by-product, we used it to give the shirts their deep, earthy hue—a soft, wine-washed tone that comes straight from the vineyard. It’s a full-fabric transformation, turning harvest leftovers into something beautiful, wearable, and entirely unique. No artificial dyes, no waste—just the natural colour of good red and white wine, repurposed. The t-shirts themselves are made from high-quality organic cotton, cut in Stiebeuel’s signature relaxed silhouette and canvas Ty Williams’ legendary illustrations. The concept is a subtle nod to the beautifully messy culture of wine, with a bold wink to anyone who knows how things really go down at harvest.

Working with Stiebeuel felt natural. Their approach to fashion—slow, thoughtful, unpolished in the best way—mirrors our own ethos with wine. They care about process. They honour flaws. They value stories over trends. And like us, they’re not afraid to get their hands dirty (or stained). This collab is for the people who don’t mind a little mess. The ones who drink with purpose, spill without panic, and live fully in every glass. It’s a celebration of the raw, the real, and the beautifully imperfect.
And like a good bottle shared with friends, these shirts won’t last forever. We’ve only made a small run, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. So whether you’re wearing yours to the next wine club hangout or just to the market for more snacks, know that you’re sporting something with soul—and a splash of Pinotage or Sauvignon Blanc.
Wasted Wine Club x Stiebeuel. Grape-stained. Limited edition. Fully fermented. Because some stories are too good to keep in the bottle.
